Q&A

What is the correct showering procedure after a fire?

Shower within the hour. Use a light-coloured towel to check for residual soot. Start with tepid water, slowly raise temperature until uncomfortable (opens pores), scrub thoroughly with soap including armpits, groin, behind ears, neck, and hair. Blow nose. Slowly bring temperature back down to close pores, return to tepid, then finish. If towel shows black marks, shower again.
