Presumptive legislation reverses the burden of proof — instead of the firefighter proving their cancer came from work, the employer/organisation must prove it did NOT come from work. If a firefighter has one of the listed cancers and the required years of service, they automatically qualify, allowing them to focus on recovery without financial stress.
